The new Trade window charts the price of any good over three years against the world's average, lists the best openings for what your market can spare, and lets you open your own routes: a caravan overland or a ship between harbours. Each route shows what it carried and earned last month, and you can choose what it loads each way.
Ships are now built in shipyards, with sails of hemp canvas and tar from the resin tappers. Trade leagues work as they did: the Hanseatic League from 1159, the Venetian Stato da Mar, the Genoese colonies and the Swahili coast trade among their members and found their towns in their years. Twenty-one pirate havens, from the Narentines to the Barbary corsairs and the Caribbean buccaneers, raid the shipping that passes near them.
